Make sure that your homeowners insurance policy fully covers your needs.

If you’re like many homeowners out there, you probably don’t think much about your homeowners insurance after you sign on the dotted line. I recommend checking up on your homeowners insurance policy every few years to ensure you have the best possible coverage at the best possible price.

Homeowners insurance is something you hope you never need, but when you do need it, it’s essential. If you’re renovating or you’ve made any improvement, now is the time to reevaluate your coverage. Condo owners might need additional loss assessment coverage. That will cover the deductible on the master insurance policy (which can be thousands of dollars) if something goes wrong in your condo and you need both your policy and the master insurance policy to cover it. You will be responsible for both deductibles if you don’t have loss assessment coverage.
